Hey hey hey-it’s a good day!
This is a journal entry I wrote about 3 weeks ago. I am n longer feeling a bit mellow-but truly genuinely looking forward to what is to come right now and in the next several months. This is a real reflection of thoughts, questions, challenges, and learning all at the same time. Hope you enjoy 🙂
Who would have known I would be using what I learned in High school Track and Field to help strengthen myself in pushing through this next leg of the journey.
I remember my coach saying “running is a lifestyle-these are lessons you will take with you the rest of your life” & that stands true to this day. I thank my coach Lisa for that and those words of wisdom she shared with me.
Let me break this down for you a bit more.
We are on the 3rd quarter-& while time has flown by, it also seems to have slowed down somehow too.
It is in this time where the high of the adventure, travel, & ministry is at it’s peak & now it’s time to turn on the endurance and resiliency. Haha.
I am tired. I am a bit home sick. I just want to hug my friends & family & snuggle with my siblings dogs too. Haha! I am ready for a little space where I can decorate, play music, sing, light candles, craft, & rest in solitude. I am wondering what is next?! But at the same time know that is not what I need to be thinking about nor trying to plan out right now.
For I hear the Lord say in my spirit “Do not worry my Kailey- I still have things here I am excited for you to experience & learn & for people to meet. Don’t worry about what the future holds, trust me that I have your best intentions in mind”
“Ok, sounds like a plan God! ” I think to myself.
I look at it as the 3rd lap of a mile. Something I learned way back in high school. Traditionally-it appears to be the hardest lap of the race, but if done with the right strategy and sound of mind, it can be exhilarating! I remember this from my own personal experience in high school track. It seemed that my coach & I developed my own personal strategy to conquer the mile-& with a bit of a confidence boost, I loved it & thrived in it! That same mentality-I am claiming for this “3rd” lap of this journey. I am on month 6 and have 5 more months to go. Wahoo!
Within this journey, I have also been given a role called “logistics coordinator” & I can’t tell you how many times this role has led me to think back on what I learned as a Cross country captain junior and senior year of high school. My coach had such a way of empowering captains & teammates to be the servant leaders we were meant to be, to think logistically, to get creative, to plan, to organize, to empower others to be all that they could be too! I learned so much, if not all of this from her example & by gaining experience in the role she appointed me to step into. I thank her for that opportunity so much. & am so grateful she saw something in me and believed in me.
Shout of to Coach Lisa Taylor for intentionally pouring into my life through the track and field and cross country days of high school-& so much more beyond that too! I am able to take what I learned from those times and your wisdom and apply it to everyday life situations here around the world. How crazy is that?!
There is also parallel between my high school track & cross country coach and you. You, as my friend, mentor, or family member, have supported me and continue to encourage me in all these wild ambitions. I’m not sure I could be doing what I do without your love too.
I thank you for that! & I thank my heavenly father for using you as a vessel to pour into my life.
May you be filled with joy, peace, & favor today as you go about another day in the life.
& my challenge to you today is this: who can you look back on and thank for empowering you to be all that you could be? & what accomplishments can you thank God for today that you have made in your life?
Best regards,
Kailey
